Prosthetic Dental Therapy

Prosthetic Dental Therapy

In our time, the use of non-metal ceramics that are used in the making of prosthesis, increases rapidly. The most important factor in the increasing of popularity of ceramics is that they have good esthetics, are hygienic and durable.

Teeth are covered prosthetic, if there is too much material loss in teeth, and if the filling is not possible. These coverages are called crown. Today, the crowns are made from ceramics and metal support porcelain materials. In the case of tooth loss, it’s made 3-teeth-fixed veneer as a single block, making the teeth in front of and behind the loose tooth smaller. This type of prosthesis is called bridge. That means, 2 teeth take the function of 3 teeth.

Crowns and bridges are a kind of fixed prosthesis. They are not removable. In the case of more tooth loss, removable partial prosthesis is made. In this kind of prosthesis the support of teeth and the gum and bone is useful. These are the prosthesis which known as “prosthesis with hook” in public. In our time, removable prosthesis with snap fastener and with other holder elements that are more fine, without metal look of hook are made instead of hook.

If all teeth are lost, total prosthesis are made. This prosthesis that are called prosthesis-set or palate, is sat in the supporting tissue in mouth. Through this kind of prosthesis, front teeth can be made from porcelain, so a better esthetics is provided.
